At some point in the 1960s, the CIA decided to put more resources behind pop culture warfare in their battle against global Soviet influence. These efforts included everything from funding modern art to schemes involving fake blockbusters in order to rescue terrorist hostages. And now another of these operations has come to light due to chaos from current government instability.
Codenamed D.O.O.M Inc, this venture was designed to help win the Cold War through the power of insidiously catchy pop music with an edge. To achieve this goal, the CIA recruited three fringe artists from both sides of the Berlin Wall, known only by the handles Mr. Demon, Mr. Green and Mr. Fiction. It is believed that these individuals originated from the anarchist pop collective The Bernie-Madoff Group but their true origins are unknown– all we know now are the trends and movements they are associated with.
Many intelligence experts who specialize in pop ops believe D.O.O.M. Inc are responsible for everything from introducing David Bowie to cocaine to supplying Manchester with enough E to spark a global rave revolution. But as their ops became increasingly brazen and bizarre, their handlers grew concerned that D.O.O.M. Inc were double agents working against the music industry and western hegemony at large. Before long, D.O.O.M. Inc was put on ice, literally– the CIA had them cryogenically frozen and stored at a secret facility in Austin, TX.
Now thanks to Elon Musk’s gutting of government programs, D.O.O.M. Inc have been thawed out and set loose— likely with no awareness by DOGE operatives of what they had set free. Liberated from CIA control, D.O.O.M. Inc hunkered down and studied up on the last several decades of pop music and are more eager than ever before to wreak havoc. The trio have targeted several local Austin musicians to acquire for their diabolical machinations, including Fak3 5miles, Die Slo member WKDZD and members of Subpar Snatch. It remains unclear whether these musicians are willing collaborators or are victims themselves but if the musical status quo is to remain, D.O.O.M. Inc and their associates must be stopped.
